"White Dove Releasing"
White "Rock Doves" are used for all humane releases.
They are strong, intelligent and possess a homing instinct.
With extensive training, the doves are able to return home safety. They fly by the sun, find their bearing by atmospheric infrasounds and navigate with a magnetic sense to locate north. The pure white dove can travel as much as 600 miles in a day at the speed of approximately fifty-five miles per hour. Doves have strong bonds, they choose a mate and then remain together through life, from season to season, year after year.
For this reason, doves are associated with love and fidelity;. Together they raise their young in harmony and serenity.

Frequently asked questions
What happens to the doves after release?
They usually circle a few times to get their bearings, and then fly home to the comfort of their loft.
Do all doves know how to fly home?
Our Doves have spent many hours in training and when they are released they know how to fly home.
How do they know where home is?
Nobody really knows. A well-trained Dove appears to use many senses to navigate. Although not clearly understood, their ability to navigate depends on breeding, good health and extensive training with a knowledgeable handler. A lot of time, effort, and money go into the training and care of these birds. They go through an intense training period starting at 8 weeks of age. Their training is never ending and the birds love it.
What time of day is best for a release?
Under certain rare weather conditions a release may be cancelled for the safety of the Doves. White doves have difficulty flying in heavy rain, fog, extreme wind, snow or snow covered ground, or the dark. It affects their homing ability and puts them at risk of getting lost or hurt. We care too much for our Doves to let that happen. A release must also take place with enough time for the birds to get home, which is usually just before sunset.
The specific time is flexible but we never release doves less than one hour before sunset.
